Zeta Wave Infinity Review
27. June 2019Hextiles Review
29. June 2019By now, you know me, don’t you? When there is a racing game to play, I am not too far away! Consecutively, I’ve downloaded “Seaside Driving” by “Frozen Lake Games” and started racing.
Retro style cruising
So, the very first thing I noticed was the whole retro beach atmosphere. The colors, the fonts, the style choices – everything comes together and create this retro galore, that makes you feel that the ocean is just around the corner, inviting you to cruise in a convertible along the coast, listening to the waves and feel the setting sun on you skin.
It’s a no-brainer that I love it very much! And there is another thing that stands out and is even better: the music. It’s a great mix between Miami bass, chillwave and maybe even a hint of city pop. Either way, it fits perfectly to the ambience and vibe. Like one of the reviewers in the Play Store said: The saddest part about crashing is that the jams cut out.
Lastly, I like that there are various maps and cars that you can unlock. The retro map looks fun and the VW bus is my favorite car (even if it’s expensive). Such a classic!
Controls made in the 80s
And while this game has very clear strong points, there are also some things I’d like to be added to make the game even better. For one, the controls seem to adhere to the retro theme, but I would suggest to tweak them further. The steering is not balanced enough yet and therefore makes it hard to get very far. Sometimes it reacts rather later, at other times it is too sensitive. Maybe the possibility to change the perspective would make controlling the car easier as well. I definitely prefer a straighter viewpoint while driving in games.
There are also no other features to influence your driving. No handbrake, no brakes, no accelerator pedal. Since it is a racing game, additional steering options to improve the cruising experience would surely be appreciated by potential players.
- Retro style
- Music
- Map and car variations
- Improved steering
- Change in perspective
- At least Brakes
The Verdict
I’m sure the prospect of a beach holiday feeling and nice tunes convinced you to try and download the game here, didn’t it?
