Do you know the game ‘Rock–Paper–Scissors’? ✊✋✌

You probably do as it is wildly popular and it basically exists since mankind. “The first known mention of the game was in the book Wuzazu [zh] by the Chinese Ming-dynasty writer Xie Zhaozhi [zh] (fl. c. 1600), who wrote that the game dated back to the time of the Chinese Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD)”, as Wikipedia lets us know. And today it is still performed to either just play around, compete professionally, to relieve one’s boredom or even to make important life decisions.

The app “Rock Paper Avoid” by “Zamaxt Games” found a new way to engage with this great classic. Let us find out more!

This level almost looks like the famouspatternof Louis Vuitton, doesn’t it?

The classic game reinvented

In this game the classic is twisted into an avoidance game: While the usual duels are still there (Rock beats Scissors, Paper beats Rock and Scissors beats Paper), you additionally need to get through the obstacles by sliding left or right to chose the correct pathway.

The controls are a big plus. They react smoothly and without a hitch. That allows you to concentrate on the game, which gets increasingly challenging. Therefore it is a major advantage!

The design helps too, as it is clear and ordered. The retro design is fitting for a game principle that is as retro as it gets. The colors amplify the look and feel. They are also seemingly chosen with colorblind people in mind.

Lastly, the numerous levels with different difficulties and the daily rewards are a great way to keep the players engaged!

The minor flaws are not set in stone (or paper or scissors)

Until you get to enjoy the game you need to wait quite a long time. The loading screen takes very long to load- too long, especially if you consider the data size and the scale of the game. Thus, a better performance regarding this issue would be appreciated.

Secondly, the sound level of the sounds and the music could be more balanced. If I want to hear the music, the sounds are too loud and vice versa. A fix for that shouldn’t be a big problem, should it?

Lastly, I would like to see another game mode. While the different difficulty levels ensure some variation, I’d still love to have multiplayer mode. I imagine it to be so much fun playing this together with or against my friends!
