“Fry Me Omelettes” is an app for the egg lover, the cooking professional, the kitchen amateur, the vegetarian, the gamer, the house man, the house wife, the chef and the student! In this game you try to impress a (partly) critical jury with your prepared meals made out of eggs and other ingredients. Grab your flipper and step up your frying game!

Don’t they love my frying skills!

Sunny side up

The game idea is really nice. In times where ordering food and eating outside is quite common (I plead guilty!), it is nice to have a game that promotes cooking. And it is just so adorable! There is more to eggs than the chicken-and-egg problem. You can fry a perfect sunny side up, a puffy egg with fillings, creamy soft omelette, a one-minute salad omelette and many more dishes during the challenge mode or scramble your food in the casual mode.

The little details are what make this game so endearing: the ingredients like carrots, the oven gloves in the corner, the intensity adjuster of the gas cooker, the character traits of the jury.  The design is really well-rounded, such as the 2-D graphics, the animations and cutely designed kitchen. You can also tone down the music or mute it completely.

A bit burned underneath

There are a few issues, that aren’t exactly the bee’s knees, but easy to improve. Firstly, there are the long loading periods. Whenever I try to get my cooking results evaluated, I have to wait quite a while. First until it shows my product, then until the jury starts evaluating and finally again after the rating. This unfortunately changes the whole dynamics of the game and makes it a bit boring. Another thing, that I’d like to see improved is the handling of the kitchen tools, spices and decorations. It is quite hard to work precisely and to see if I’ve used it at all (esp. salt and pepper).

Lastly, I would like to be able to skip the ads earlier. It’s a bit unbalanced to skip a 17 seconds ad only after 10 seconds. There is almost no point in skipping the ad then? At least the ads don’t appear to often, so it is not too bothersome.
