Do you like to solve riddles and challenge your mind? The adventure game “Strange Case: The Alchemist” by “Labeledman Games” is guiding a detective figure trying to solve a mysterious case. Keep reading to bring more light into the darkness.

Solve this strange case

A true mystery

This game is available in the languages English and Russian and is recommended for gamers of the age of 12 years and older. This does make sense, since the theme is quite dark and the puzzles and riddles need some general knowledge, which very young children might not have. The game also doesn’t come with instructions. So, you really need to search for hints and try to see connections on your very own.

I like the mood and find the design, content and music very fitting for each other. It really feels like you are solving a crime.

All alone

On the one hand, I think that it adds to the feeling of being some kind of detective that there are no instructions or hints. On the other hand, I would find it more inclusive if there were such elements in the game.

If you like a real challenge, you don’t need to use these help options. But if you really don’t know what to do, a quick explanation what the goal of the game is and how the controls work (e.g. that you can pick up objects and how to put them in or out of the inventory) doesn’t take away from the suspense and fun of puzzle-solving in my opinion. And I guess a little hint would help the player to keep playing instead of becoming frustrated if they got stuck and completely stop playing the game.

Since the game really sucks you in, I find the advertisement, which also often is much louder than the game, very distracting and interrupting. I understand that there must be some clips included, but maybe there could be a short warning, like a countdown, or a little pause in between the gameplay and the actual ad to create a smoother transition.
