Kurt’s Cruel Adventures Review

13. February 2018Don't get hypnotized by the spinning ball. Let's get all the diamonds and climb up!
“Right Round” is an arcade game, in which you need to wait until it’s your turn to shoot. But “ExEightySix” made sure to make it challenging and highly addictive. So let’s go and give it a shot!
Challenging Shooting Game
This game will make you want to play again and again. It seems simple to shoot the ball to the next rotating field, but it is quite challenging. Some of the rotating platforms have shields, where you cannot place the ball and you only have a limited time to finally shoot to move on. I have to admit that I failed a lot in the beginning. But fortunately, the combinations of rotating fields (their placement, the number of shields, the rotation speed) was always different for each try, making it more fun to play over and over again. Since I wasn’t as good in the beginning, I liked the option to collect diamonds and use them to unlock higher levels, instead of unlocking them with your High Score.
Unbalanced Design
As much as I liked the game idea, I didn’t enjoy the colors so much. I liked the last color scheme (for the “hardest” level) the most and wish the earlier levels could have fewer colors as well to make the yellow ball and red shields stand out more. Changing all backgrounds to a simple black would improve it in my opinion.
I felt like there were too many colors, but not enough music in this game. For the soundscape there are sound effects for shooting the ball, collecting diamonds or failing, but no background music at all. On the one hand, I thought it was nice because music can be distracting. But on the other hand, I felt like there was missing something with time. Maybe it would be nice to add it (and an option to make it mute, so everybody is happy). Once again, I really enjoyed the game overall, I just think those little changes would improve the game experience.
As I really wanted to collect diamonds, I had another idea. Why cannot the shields be an indicator of the number of diamonds you can collect at each platform? To me, it seemed random to get no diamonds on a field with a big or many shields and then again to collect many diamonds from an easier one. In my opinion, it would be the perfect reward to get the number of diamonds depending on the difficulty of the shoot.

- Challenging
- Addictive
- Number of diamonds according to shields
- New color schemes
- Background music
The Verdict
“Right Round” is a fun and addictive arcade game, which is all about your turn to shoot at the right timing. You can download it here.

Thanks for your positive feedback. I’m surprised someone actually liked my game since I’m getting no more than one download a week. I know there are things to improve but I won’t be updating the game anymore as I’m working on a new one.
