5. December 2017Gimme 5ive! Interview with Pierce Zaifman
12. December 2017You won't realize how fast time runs out until the timer counts down and pumps your heart rate up!
It’s time for a round of demolition! In this brick puzzle game, you’ll need to connect the same colored bricks to destroy all lines to get into the next level. Be fast or your time runs out! Sounds exciting, doesn’tit? Let’s have a closer look at the game!
Thrilling countdown modes
In, “Bricks n’ Bombs”, there are two game modes: the normal one, in which you try to reach the maximum level, and the trial mode, in which you have to pass the already played levels as fast as possible. The trial mode doubles up as a practice mode to be prepared to for later stages. In both modes, the countdown is the key factor that makes the game thrilling, especially when it’s audibly counting down the last seconds. ?
The game runs with a smooth performance, which we loved: No crashes, no juddering. Plus, the design is nothing too flashy and muted colors dominate the visual appearance. Therefore you can focus on bombing your bricks away! And believe me, time really flies in this diverting game!
In need of a return button
While it’s thrilling to play, the game play sometimes is a bit too unpredictable., like when the see-through blogs can’t be destroyed or when you get no hourglass item until level seven – and at that point, it is no big help anymore.
Recovering some time from watching ads, however, is indeed a useful idea. But some of these 30-seconds clips are unskippable, whereas in other situations you’ll have to wait for 5 seconds to skip them. Personally, I dislike this. Either have me watch the ad or allow me to skip it right away. If I have to wait ’till I am allowed to skip it, I don’t really have a choice, have I? Unfortunately, a lot of apps do this.
Speaking of interruptions: I like, that it is possible to pause the game; it’s an underrated feature, I think! Though it would be even better to have a return button, so you can close the app and resume at a later time.
Lastly, on a minor note, I would like to see a mute option for the sounds. Although they are well-chosen, I don’t want to hear them in public places. In ter,s of the missing mute button, I guess, we can say that it is a good thing, that there is no music. 😉
- Thrilling countdown
- Trial levels
- Smooth performance
- A return button
- Possibility to skip ad right away
- Option to mute sounds
The Verdict
Bricks n’ Bombs is a well-rounded game with an appealing gameplay. Try it out and beat my high score! The game is available for Android and iOS.
