As Mozart already knew, to become a great musician you need to practice and repeat and repeat and rebeat...

You always wanted to play the drums, but your parents thought it would be too noisy? “ReBeat” by “Heisengerm” is a game that allows you to enjoy the rhythm, indoor volume. Check it out with me!

Familiar Gameplay 2.0

The idea to follow the beat and using arrows in different directions is not brand new. But now you can play it on your smartphone swiping on your screen at the right time. The game also adds memory as another element of the gameplay. It’s reminding me of “Simon Says”, but with a beat. It shows you the combination of arrows for the next segment of music and when it repeats you need to rebeat. Depending on how well you did you will get feedback and the game progresses to a faster speed and more beats to hit.

Even though the difficulty increases with time, you can also choose between three options from the beginning. There are three songs with different tempos, setting distinct starting points. By the way, those songs are original! I’m looking forward to even more songs in future. I also love the clear designs with the black background, which really makes the arrows glow in my opinion – just a personal preference, but I like it very much!

Waiting to perform

Since it’s important that video and sound are in sync for that game, I really like that the developer included the option to calibrate those. But I really wondered if it’s my phone or if it’s normal that it took over seven minutes to finish the audio latency calibration. I hope there is a way to shorten this time in future updates.

I also wish for an “Exit” button. I did enjoy to play the game, but I also want to close it easily. It’s not a big deal but on my wish list. Also, I understand including advertisement is necessary, I hope there is a way to let it pop up when you are not in the middle of the game – possibly close to a new High Score – destroying the groove.

Repetition makes the mastery

What we love about “ReBeat”

  • Clear Design
  • Original songs
  • 3 difficulties to choose from

What we’d like to see in the next update

  • Shorter Calibration
  • Exit Button
  • Less advertisement

The Verdict

“Heisengerm” created a nice combination of a memory and rhythm game with “ReBeat” letting you get in synch with original songs. If you want to check out the game, groove over here.

Hi, this is Jeremy from Heisengerm Games, the developer of this game! I’m glad you liked it! I was wondering about your advertisement problem though. Did the ads show up while you were playing a round of the game? Or was it just at the game over screen? I hope it didn’t interrupt the game play! I tried to make sure that wouldn’t happen, but if it did, let me know so I can fix it! If you or anyone else has any other questions, you can contact me though the contact form at my website!: https://www.hg-games.com/

    • Hi Jeremy,

thank you very much for your comment. Yes, the ads showed up while we were playing a round of the game on our testing device, the Huawei P8 Lite. So, I guess a fix would be a very good idea. 🙂 Looking forward to playing your updated version!

Just finished the fix! Update is now live on Google Play and should be up on the App Store soon! Ads should no longer play during a round. Also, I shortened the amount of time it takes to do the calibration as well.

        Hope you enjoy it!
